1] How did you find Build Your Own Blog and why did you decide to follow Matt’s setup guide?

In early 2015, my sister and I started talking about creating blogs but had no idea how to go about it. Because we were beginning at the same time, we decided to turn the process into a project and gave each other assignments. Our first assignment, which was assigned to both us, was to research and find any possible source of information regarding a “how to” guide to starting a blog. We regrouped with a list of websites, most of which were incredibly vague or seemed to be missing steps.

Thankfully, Matt’s setup guide was on my sister’s list, and after reviewing the site for one minute, the decision was a no-brainer: follow Matt’s guide!!

2] What do you like about the setup guide?

The best thing about Matt’s guide is that it tells you exactly how to set up a blog site. Exactly. Plus, we could choose if we wanted to read, or watch and listen to the video. The site helped us tremendously, and I honestly have no idea what we would have done without it!!

3] What else do you like about Build Your Own Blog?

I like the fact that I can reference Build Your Own Blog for other questions that I might have. Plus, Matt has directly pointed me in a few different specific directions over the years, and I am tremendously thankful for that. I don’t know if Matt realizes how much he helps people!!

4] What are your plans for Adventure Music Life?

In 2018, I plan to enhance the site by changing the theme, modifying the main pictures, and adding lots of new content. Ongoing, I will take and write about more adventures, attend as many concerts and festivals as possible for the Music section, and I’m already lining up interviews with interesting people for the Life section.

To expand the website, I would like to add guest bloggers, as I believe it will be appealing for readers to incorporate different points of view, especially in the areas of Adventure and Music.

Then, of course, I would love to be able to monetize the site in some way that is not annoying to readers and does not take away from the look and feel of the site.

1] How did you find Build Your Own Blog and why did you decide to follow Matt’s setup guide?

I found Build Your Own Blog just doing Google searches on the internet. My wife has been keeping a scrapbook of the places we’ve been well before starting the blog. Her and my sister talked me into trying a blog. I had no idea what was involved so I started searching. I narrowed it down to 2 different ones and finally chose yours. I liked your style of writing. I felt very comfortable reading your information.

2] What do you like about the setup guide?

The setup went very well. I believe I hit one snag and sent you an e-mail for help. You replied overnight (we’re in different time zones) and I was able to work out my bugs the next day. The guide was very simple to follow along with.

3] What else do you like about Build Your Own Blog?

Once I was up and running I was having a blast. I didn’t have a lot of followers at first but I was just enjoying myself and writing about the many restaurants we visit. With average computer skills, I’ve been able to progress to where my blog is now. I’ve had many e-mails back and forth with you for advice which I value very much. You have helped to guide me in what I think is the right direction.

4] What are your plans for Patrick’s BBQ Trail?

At this time I’m just having a lot of fun with my hobby. I still work for a living and probably will continue to for a few more years. Now that my followers have increased I have so much more fun on the blog. I continue to meet many new and great people in the bbq business. I have considered running a contest in the near future to see how well that will add to my blog.

I am grateful to Matt who has helped me tremendously. I’ve recommended Build Your Own Blog to several other people who were thinking of starting a blog. If anyone asks me, I made the best choice possible when I chose your site to build my blog.

That’s a picture of me about to take on the MeatQuake Challenge at Dave’s BBQ in Virginia Beach, VA.  BTW, I crushed it.

PS. I did mention that I’ve met many awesome people by writing my blog. What I didn’t tell you is that I’ve also been asked by some to try new items that were being added to menus or run as a special. Kind of a try it before you buy it deal to give my opinion. That’s pretty cool. But one of the best things is that I was invited to be a judge at a BBQ Contest this past summer. That was so much fun. These are things I would never have done without starting up my blog. Thank you for all your help.

How to Get YOUR Blog Featured in the Next Blogger Success Bulletin

the Blogger Success Bulletin normally comes out four times per year.

The BSB is where we feature real bloggers who have started new websites using the Build Your Own Blog setup guide.

This lets you go behind the curtain to see examples of customers who are launching new blogs.

These are blogs that are off to strong starts. They have a design theme. They have content already up. They are making things happen beyond the actual blog setup.

These are bloggers who are continuing on through steps 4 through 8, putting what they’re learning into action.

I like to feature as many of these folks as I can, but I don’t have time to keep up with the progress of every blogger who uses the Build Your Own Blog setup guide.

So if you would like to be featured in the Blogger Success Bulletin and you meet these three criteria, please shoot me an email with a link to your blog.

Be sure to put in the subject line: Please Consider My Blog for the BSB

Here are the requirements needed to have your website featured…

3 Criteria to be featured in the Blogger Success Bulletin

1. Started your blog using the Build Your Own Blog setup guide

2. Have a WordPress theme up (a free default theme is okay)

3. Have a least 8 posts up ready for people to check out (which is just one post per week for two months.)

What I’ll do is send you the four questions you see the bloggers answering above. Once I get your reply, that’s it.

Just send email inquiries to matt@buildyourownblog.net

    Hi Matthew,

    Good stuff.

Great to see both of these bloggers rocking it out through your instruction. I found you via Google too, for a “blogging” search. You were on page 1. I read a few posts. I too enjoy your step by step, simple, powerful style for building a successful blog.

Few folks realize; simple is powerful. I do not delve into the tech set up stuff on my blog but do keep it as simple as can be to draw in my readership. Learn from pros, practice writing, create, connect. The bloggers who make this process simple seem to attract loyal, targeted followings, and those followers teach these fundamentals to their readers too. Awesome way to inspire folks to succeed online.

I am a big fan of following your passion too. Nici and Patrick are passionate about their niches. You can feel it, and see it. Passion is that energy that makes the blogging engine go, especially when you bump up against resistance. When you feel passionate about your niche, the resistance dissolves into success. Every time.

Thanks for the rocking share dude. Keep on educating, inspiring and empowering bloggers out there!

    Ryan
