Blogger Success Bulletin – Spring 2017

blogger success Bulletin

Welcome to the Spring 2017 Edition of the Blogger Success Bulletin

Flowers are blooming, and bloggers are sprouting up left and right.

This month’s issue has three new blogs to share with you.

For those who are new here, the Blogger Success Bulletin normally comes out four times per year.

The BSB is where we feature real bloggers who have started new websites using the Build Your Own Blog setup guide.

This lets you go behind the curtain to see examples of customers who are launching new blogs.

These are blogs that are off to strong starts. They have a design theme. They have content already up. They are making things happen beyond the actual blog setup.

These are bloggers who are continuing on through steps 4 through 8, putting what they’re learning into action.

I like to feature as many of these folks as I can, but I don’t have time to keep up with the progress of every blogger who uses the Build Your Own Blog setup guide.

For example, last month alone, over 250 people started a blog using this site.

So if you would like to be featured in the Blogger Success Bulletin and you meet these three criteria, please shoot me an email with a link to your blog.

Please put in the subject line: Please Consider My Blog for the BSB

Here are the requirements needed to have your website featured…

3 Criteria to be featured in the Blogger Success Bulletin

1. Started your blog using the Build Your Own Blog setup guide

2. Have a WordPress theme up. (Some type of website design that’s not just the default theme)

3. Have a least 8 posts up ready for people to check out (which is just one post per week for two months.)

What I’ll do is send you the four questions you see the bloggers below answering. Once I get your reply, that’s it.

Just send email inquiries to [email protected]

Alright, so let’s now check out this issue’s featured bloggers…

1] How did you find Build Your Own Blog and why did you decide to follow Matt’s setup guide?

I found your blog by chance. I was googling, looking for a step by step guide to create a blog and found your guide among the best.

2] What do you like about the setup guide?
The setup guide has many qualities: it is very clear, straight to the point, and engaging. I also appreciate all the visuals you have put in (the videos but also the screenshots)

3] What else do you like about Build Your Own Blog?
I like the free blogging tips, the possibility to chat with you and get a quick answer, and your newsletter with minimalist design and powerful messages.

4] What are your plans for Liberate Your Pen?
I built Liberate Your Pen to train myself to write about different subjects, books, and to encourage people share their knowledge and their point of views.
I hope someday my blog would allow me to write a successful book.

1] How did you find Build Your Own Blog and why did you decide to follow Matt’s setup guide?

I found “Build Your Own Blog” as I was surfing the net, trying to find better instructions than the ones I had found with a different blog set-up guide. (I am withholding the name of that guide to protect the guilty.)

2] What do you like about the setup guide?

The instructions I had before were very rambling and the screen shots did not seem to match what I was doing and they were way too small with no way to enlarge them by doing a full-screen, which was very confusing. Yet I was very determined to start my blog about affordable health care.

When I found the set-up guide on Build Your Own Blog, the instructions were so much clearer and the screen shots were so much easier to see. You also answered a few questions via email very nicely for a very non-techy person like me.

In fact, you have provided ongoing support when I have had questions as in recently when I wanted to change a category so that the complete articles were visible without having to click on them. I followed your advice, and got ‘er done.

3] What else do you like about Build Your Own Blog?

I like the regular emails I get for continuing on my blog and marketing it, not to mention the inspirational stories that make me feel like, “I can do this!” I try to implement ideas that I read about or hear in your articles and interviews.

4] What are your plans for Journeying to Affordable Healthcare?

I feel that my next step for “Journeying to Affordable Health Care” is to actively work at monetizing it. That is when I will be using your guide for making money at blogging.

I have done a lot of work fiddling with my blog, trying to make it more attractive and trying to be as relevant as possible to what is going on in the health care environment. I have also been trying to use my blog occasionally to “put in my two-cents worth” with elected representatives to get them to look at some much deeper problems in the way health care is delivered and paid for in this country.

1] How did you find Build Your Own Blog and why did you decide to follow Matt’s setup guide?

I came across BYOB through a Google Search. I am pretty tech savvy, but I was looking for a turn key guide for setting up a simple to use, yet legitimate blog that would allow be the flexibility to grow it and own it.

Following Matt’s steps I was able to get my domain name, set up my hosting, install my wordpress site and be on my way to blogging quite quickly and without confusion

2] What do you like about the setup guide?

I appreciated the videos that I could watch while I was going through the steps. It was so simple to follow along and understand exactly what I was doing in the setup process.

3] What else do you like about Build Your Own Blog?

Matt doesn’t leave you after the setup process is complete. He continues to answer commons questions, as well as offer tips and trends in his own blog posts.

I also love that he provides inspiration by sharing success stories from other bloggers.

4] What are your plans for The Free Mama?

I started my blog to document my journey from a traditional 9-5 working mom to a solopreneur work from home mom.

While I continue to share my own joys and setbacks on my blog, it has sparked something bigger for me and my home-based business. I am excited to grow my blog into a business that inspires other moms to go after their professional dreams without feeling like they’re sacrificing time with their families.

Lauren shares her story on an upcoming episode of The Blog Chronicles, so be watching for that!

Let me know how it goes,

Blogging and vlogging is taking off like crazy – the latter so much so that Youtube has started de-monetizing a number of videos because there aren’t enough advertisers to go around! Success can still be found in blogging/vlogging, but you’re right in that you should follow your steps for succes!

  5. Susan says:    •   3 years

I think it’s fantastic that you are laying out the steps to success for new bloggers who are just starting out their career. Great post!

  6. Brian says:    •   2 years

I have to agree with so many of the commenters – although vlogging has taken over the internet – very recently there does seem to be a return to traditional blogging taking place. I’m very interested to watch this trend in the coming months and into 2018.

Hi Matt, I think that what you are doing to promote new bloggers is awesome. I am very happy for these 3 ladies and if they are successful in their attempts I wish them all the best for the future. For myself if I knew getting into blogging would do more for my efforts and attempts I would have concentrated on my blog more a long time ago. I will most certainly take more note of the advice and tips you provide in future and might just be turning to blogging as my primary objective on the internet in the near future.

Nadia, Cathy and Lauren, all the best, I shall be watching your progress in future and wish you well.

Thanks again Matt for opening my eyes.
