I’ll be home for Christmas all alone this year, for the first time, as my family travels to all parts of the globe (New Zealand, New Mexico and Hawaii). While they’re in the air, there’s a chance that I could be dancing on air with a Macbook Air, my boney fingers tickling the ebonies (keys). My current six-year old Macbook is heavy, clunky, and its main “air” quality consists of the fan blowing hard to counteract overheating. The mouse doesn’t even stir, as the trackpad has stopped clicking on all cylinders. At least my lap will be warm this Xmas. Now, about warming my heart. #mba

      * Through to New Year’s.

      1. K Max says:    •   4 years

Sounds like my Dell! But I bought it 6 years ago as a refurbished unit so I guess I can’t complain about the service I’ve gotten from it!

    2. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

    3. Hillary Odo says:    •   4 years

  2. Brent Jones says:    •   4 years

You bet I entered, buddy! Sharing, too.

Hopefully you’re willing to allow Canadian residents to enter. If not, I’ll drive over the border to pick it up. I’m only a mile away. 🙂

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Brent,

You know BYOB is a global enterprise, eh? Canadiens are certainly welcome to participate–as long as they are not hosers. LOL
If you win, I’ll need to see your passport. LOL

      Stay tuned,

      1. Brent Jones says:    •   4 years

I think the preferred spelling is ‘hosiers’… LOL

        1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

          You would know! 😉

          1. Xylan says:    •   4 years

  4. Phoebe Carter says:    •   4 years

That’s a very generous offer Matthew, and a great draw to you Blog.
I appreciate all your blog posts sent my way over the last few months.
I don’t know if you have been to my blog, but you are mentioned and tagged into it… I need to check to see if I have linked you, though… will have to go and see. Just getting to grips with all this tech stuff.
I don’t suppose you would send it to the UK, if I was the fortunate one… I am hoping it is possible. 🙂
    Thank you.

    1. Phoebe Carter says:    •   4 years

Whoops… just seen my spelling mistake; should read ‘your’ Blog. Sorry.

      1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

        Hi Phoebe,

Hope you’re doing fabulous across the pond. 🙂

I greatly appreciate your mentions and tags. Don’t worry, we will somehow get the winner the prize. 🙂

  5. Phoebe Carter says:    •   4 years

    Yep… done! Deffo linked. 🙂

  6. Matilda says:    •   4 years

Though mathematically speaking, I’m no Charlie Bucket in terms of probability of winning, a golden ticket would be similarly delighted in nonetheless. And I assure you, it’ll be savoured as excitedly and genuinely as an impoverished British boy being told he’s won the chocolate factory that’s been fascinating and enchanting him since he discovered what processed sugar was.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Matilda,

Your comment made me smile. 🙂 I love that movie.
      Good luck to you!

  7. Kenny Santos says:    •   4 years

Very generous offer Matt. I think everyone should take advantage of this offer! Even though it would lower my chances of winning. Thank you for all you do.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Kenny,

I appreciate your generous spirit by sharing this contest even though it can bring more competition. 🙂
That attitude will take you far.

      Good luck to you!

  8. Phoenicia says:    •   4 years

Great Idea as everyone loves a freebie – especially the electronic kind!

I am over in the UK so unsure if I qualify.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Phoenicia,

      Yep, you qualify. 🙂

Electronics are fun, for sure. Good luck to you.

  10. Karissa Horst says:    •   4 years

I love getting your emails even though I haven’t been able yet to start a blog. I think I see blogging in my future, AND definitely if I have a MacBook Air as my sidekick. 😀

    1. Karissa Horst says:    •   4 years

    2. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Karissa,

I’m happy you are finding value in my emails. :0) I know when the time is right, your blog will happen.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Be sure to raise your odds by going through all 6 doors of entry. You could end up with the MacBook as your sidekick, indeed.

  11. Carolyn Rowitz-VanCamp says:    •   4 years

Thank you so much for the chance to enter this drawing. I am a full time student and business owner. To have a mac book air would make my life a whole lot easier. I would be able to work and keep up with school. My current laptop is a windows and it can’t do half of the things that a mac can do. Again thank you for this chance. #mba

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Ello Carolyn,

Glad you stopped by. They say busy people get things done, and you appear to be one of them. 🙂
You definitely appreciate the MacBook. Doing all 6 entries will boost your chances.

      To your success,

  12. Lisa says:    •   4 years

Happy Holidays, Matthew! Stay away from the egg nog!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Happy Holidays to you, Lisa!

I’m trying to stay away. But it keeps finding me. 🙂

      Ha ha

      1. Jim says:    •   4 years

No need to stay away from the Egg Nog! It won’t be around long. Often I add a little something extra from north of the border. I think it helps my writing!

  13. Oscar Webb says:    •   4 years

Always appreciate a good competition with a great prize! Thanks for setting it up.

I’ll let you drop it off to me in person if you want. I’m in Barbados for the start of the new year.

    Merry Christmas.

      You’re too kind. 🙂

      Holiday blessings to you.

  16. Yodi Collins says:    •   4 years

I have been more prolific in 2015 than in the previous two years combined! While I’m proud of that, I still feel as if I am writing in a vacuum. I don’t have my online act together by a longshot. The MacBook Air would make a nice gift.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Yodi,

That’s great to hear about your productivity going way up this year. Sweet!
This career, this journey, this lifestyle, whatever you want to call it, is a process.
Keep going and watch what happens in 2016.
You can drop by next year and let me know. 🙂
Actually, you should drop by many more times beforehand.

      Good luck,

  17. Amanda says:    •   4 years

      Happy Holiday,

  18. Lily Caraballo says:    •   4 years

This is about the best thing I’ve come across this week. My current laptop is causing me a lot of grief right now, so I’m taking any chance to get one that works well, however small it may be.

I also need to check out this site more often

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hey Lily,

Glad this made your week. 🙂

I just bought a new desktop and laptop. A slow, underperforming computer is quite frustrating.
      Good luck to you.

And yes, I think you should check out this site more often. 🙂 Don’t be a stranger.

  19. Carly Monteith says:    •   4 years

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Patty,

Ha ha, I like that. Switch loyalties fast. Hee hee

      Good luck to you!

  29. Sherri says:    •   4 years

  31. Xarchaeceya says:    •   4 years

    Greetings from Australia,

I’ve never owned a Mac; I think they were just always out of my price range. I would love to have a good excuse to stop using the prehistoric laptop I do own for a number of reasons. Not only would it be a big enough screen to see a word document on; the laptop I own is tiny, saves my back travelling to uni in exchange for the inability to cross look at any two word documents or browsing pages at the same time, but it would allow me to use a computer as my blogging medium. Previously I’ve used my iPhone to document my endeavours. There are so many things I’ve said I would do when I get a Mac. I wanted to try editing my own cooking or slam poetry videos, to make music on garage band or really focus on one blog idea because my mind is too excited to stick to one.

    Happy holidays,

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Ello Xarchaeceya,

      How are things down under?

I hear you about needing to update your computer. I recently did that with both my desktop and laptop. My desktop was getting so slow it was causing stress.

I can work so much better now.

All your ideas and goals sound good. You’ll find yourself using multiple devices for things like videos. Phone. Desktop.

The iPad is helpful too. Whatever you end up using, let me know.

In the meantime, good luck with this contest.

      Happy Holidays Xarchaeceya

  32. Chris says:    •   4 years

Great contest and I love the way it boosts your followers across all forms of social media! #mba

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Chris,

Nice blog you have there. 🙂

      All the best,

      1. Chris says:    •   4 years

Thanks much! Got it all set up thanks to you!

  33. Gail Grycel says:    •   4 years

    Hi Matt,
Your generosity is absoultely amazing. I’ve been blogging for a bit over a year now, writing on my iPad mini while traveling, then finding libraries to upload my photos and copy and paste the blog text into the post…..a MacBook Air would be a huge step up for me…..I also submitted towards the scholarship, which would allow me to spend the winter working more expansively on my blog site. Thanks for being there with so much support!

You seem to recommend WordPress. What do you have to say to the other templates out there? ( i.e. Weebly, etc.) Do you do comparisons, or are you a loyal WordPress user only?

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Gail,

I’m devoted to WordPress. I think you can’t beat it when it comes to having a fantastic website that’s unique.

      Good luck!

  34. Jane says:    •   4 years

Thank you Santa, aka Mr. Matthew Kaboomis Loomis, for the chance to win a MacBook. Let’s all donate something this Christmas!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hey Jane,

Paying it forward sounds like a great idea.

      Merry Christmas

  35. Zoe @ Top Floor Treasures says:    •   4 years

    Hi Matthew,

This is a seriously amazing generous prize! But… is it open to UK bloggers? If a UK blogger won, how would they get the prize?

Eligible to win or not, I’d like to wish you a happy Christmas! Your posts are always excellent and the laptop I’m writing this on is 5 years old and is the broken-est thing I own. So yeah. A MacBook Air would be the best thing ever.

I’ve been blogging for years, but I still think I’m pretty terrible at it. I aim to improve in 2016 🙂

    Thanks for all you do.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Zoe,

Yep, people are applying from all over, so yes you are eligible. If you win we’ll figure something out. 🙂

I like your perseverance. Keep blogging!

  36. Krista Johns says:    •   4 years

My husband will be starting his Masters program next year, and will be taking up all his free time using MY Mac to do it. A Mac Book Air would allow us both to grow ourselves in our writing. #mba

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Krista,

Maybe your husband should enter this contest too. You know, increase your odds. 🙂

  37. Sandy says:    •   4 years

Thank you for this chance at your giveaway! A MacBook Air would help me with my blogging in that I am sure that it would actually consistently work, unlike my poor PC that goes out whenever it takes a notion. I’ll be typing along or scrolling along and then I hear that little ‘bink’ sound it makes when it goes off and then it is gone. Totally shut down. Nevermind that I have windows upon windows open as I am working back and forth with them….And the ol’ PC takes a good time rebooting. My husband has a Mac that he bought back in Nov. of 2007 and it hasn’t given him any trouble; I am on my third PC laptop in the same time frame. 🙂

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Sandy,

Time for a new computer, indeed. 🙂

      Good luck,

  38. Ashley C says:    •   4 years

Awesome contest and great content on your blog 🙂 #mba

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Thank you, Ashley!

  39. Samantha O'Brochta says:    •   4 years

As someone who likes to travel light, a MacBook Air would help me out so much because it’s so much easier to blog and write on the road when you have a lightweight tool to capture your journey. As a photographer as well, it makes it easier to edit photos to add to the aesthetic of the blog posts.

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Samantha,

Yes, the Mac Air would be great for a photographer!

      I wish you well.

  40. Renee says:    •   4 years

    What a generous offer!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Good luck, Renee!

  41. Tiffany Chang says:    •   4 years

Hi, Matt. Here’s my tap on the shoulder for the day. I would love to win a MacBook Air as I am thinking of upgrading my current laptop which I have had for about 5 going on 6 years. It would tremendously help me in terms of my blogging as I try to make a name for myself. If I am not lucky enough to be chosen as the winner of the MacBook, at least I will still have my PC laptop 🙂

I have followed you on Instagram and Twitter to gain more entries. If you wish to follow back, simply stop by my Facebook Page. Thanks!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hey Tiffany,

Always good to hear from you. 🙂

Sounds like your laptop has served you well…you must keep it clean and virus free for it to serve you that long. Good luck with this contest!

Cool seeing you on IG and Twitter. I’ll visit your Facebook page.

      1. Tiffany Chang says:    •   4 years

        Hey, Matt,

Yeah, I try to keep it clean and virus free but it still tends to cause problems that would lead me to force shut down my laptop and turning it on again. Other than that, it’s still usable. Though it would be nice to have a lighter laptop to carry around haha. Hope to see you on my Facebook Page and if it’s not too much to ask, could you like the page? I’ll understand if you don’t want to. Some of my friends aren’t too big on liking Facebook Pages.

  42. Bain says:    •   4 years

Apply for everything, the worst they can do is say no. Enter every contest, the worst that can happen is you don’t win (putting you in the position you are in right now).

    Happy holidays!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      True dat, Bain. 🙂

  44. Rita Lorraine says:    •   4 years

Hi Matthew, it has truly been years since I looked forward to a surprise for Christmas Day. I would love to win, but whatever the outcome, just the anticipation of good things to come is bringing back lots of memories. Thanks for your generosity.

  45. Kelsie Stelting says:    •   4 years

I’m anxiously awaiting the results of the writing competition and the computer drawing. My husband generously agreed to buy me a computer, but that meant that hasn’t been able to afford a new laptop for himself since high school, so if I won, I would love to give him my computer or the Mac–whichever he likes best. I think he’s a PC guy though, so it would be cool to have my first Mac!

Also, kudos, because this is a great marketing strategy!

  46. Carole Arbuckle says:    •   4 years

    Competition entry from Scotland! #mba

My poor, old laptop that I bought used for £25 is nearing the end of its life – A mac book would be awesome and spur me in with my blogging which has been flagging…

  47. Jak Hardy says:    •   4 years

You can consider this Aussie an entrant,
    In the Macbook giveaway.
Oh, what a lovely Christmas present
It would be to receive that day!
To, much like your blogs, empower me
    To, my blog, develop!
Giving me the resource to spread ideas

  55. Phoebe Carter says:    •   4 years

OK… so Matt… Here I am again to see if my PC is being friendly towards your blog and enabling cookies this time, so that I might have the chance of winning your really very generous prize of an amazing ‘MacBook Air’…
In time I might see wing it through the ‘AIR’ over the big big pond and hope that ‘MAC’ the postman/courier doesn’t think that it’s a ‘BOOK’ and just drop it through the letter box; because that would be a very silly thing to do with such a precious MacBook Air… wouldn’t it? 😀
I do so hope that ‘BuildYourOwnBlog.net’ looks favourably upon me, so that I can ‘Boost’ my ‘Blog’ in ‘2016’. That would be ‘awesome’… I might need further ‘sauce’ from the more than helpful ‘Matthew “Kaboomis” Loomis’, too! Thank you.
🙂 I think you can guess that I am excited about the #mba

  56. Angela Mose says:    •   4 years

Unlike a lot of websites I subscribe to that ultimately spam my inbox with thousand dollar business-in-a-box pitches, I truly look forward to hearing from BYOB. Matthew provides content that actually inspires and helps me move closer toward my writing goals. This Friday (EEEK!) is my last day of working for someone else before I take the plunge into entrepreneurship. I’m a little nervous, a lot excited, and totally have my fingers crossed that I can begin the new year and my new business with a new computer. #mba

To think that Dickens once wrote with charcoal, and wasn’t it Gauguin who painted on the walls of his hovel for lack of canvas? Well, the artist, if he lives for art, makes art, and thus his life, with whatever is at hand. That said, making do would be so much easier, so much more effective, with a Macbook in hand. #mba

  78. Anne Davidson says:    •   4 years

I am following you on Google and linked to my Facebook but it still hasn’t gave me a entery chance. Don’t know why I was trying I know I won’t win though. I could use a new lab top instead of having to use my phone. But here lately I have had the worse luck ever. And really wish this holiday would just pass by fast. Cause done let my kids down. But this is a good ideal best of luck to everyone that has got to enter in the contest. I don’t know why my phone isn’t letting me enter.

    Hi Matthew!
Thank you for giving me the email to notify me of this opportunity!
I spent half of my life watching others, follow their life through pictures, stories. The reason is because i’m afraid of showing my real person, real thinking. I’ve been through really hard times. All I want is to create some things on my own then save things may be helpful for others. The new #mba will be the huge step which can encourage and bring me to the new person. Self-confidence to share and to shine

Starting a blog is something not very difficult conceptually but in practice it can be quite a task. It took me years before I finally decided to start my own blog. Better late than never I guess. The blog has provided me with a medium to express myself and to reach out to people in a way that I could not before. It is definitely great to have the kind of support that Matt is providing for that initial step. Thank you for continuously providing incentives to make that first step easy Matt.

You are a very kind person. You inspire, encourage, reach out and challenge me in the field of writing….such a heart I want.

    A MacBook Air for me?
If I woke up to the news that I had won a MacBook Air from you,I would laugh out loud, the kind of laughter you let out when you reach enlightenment.

Heaven knows how much I need a high quality laptop and what could I need more if not a MacBook Air? If I got her,I would nickname her Zowe;the perfect name for a best friend. She only would know when am in the mood and when I aint.

She would be the friend I would wake up in the middle of the night to tell of my escapades and she only would tell of my mind and heart through my writings.

I plan to start a blog in January with a MacBook Air from you Matthew .I hope I win but if the lot falls on another writer,I hope he/she dedicates a blog post to you.

Wow…this couldn’t have come at any time better. I’m a budding writer who’s hit a bit of a writer’s block, partly cause of lack of inspiration and also the fact that I’m in need of a dire writing/blogging tool like the macbook air. Maybe because of its sleek design or because of the fact that’s its backlight keys is awesome to use when writing a horror story in a dark room. I hope i win tho. ☺

I do not believe there is a chance for me to receive the price if I win, as I currently live in Bulgaria. I just wanted to say that I believe you are doing a good job, Matthew, helping newbies to start their online presence. And keeping it simple. It is always admirable when someone provides practical guidance that might be essential for technically unskilled people, who could eventually come up with a great idea. Gaining technical knowledge is rarely bed of roses and could drive back someone, who eventually have a hidden gem of an idea, or knowledge to share with the public. People like you can make a change. As the Brits would say, Cheers!

Writing has always been a passion of mine, as it for many other people on this site, as well as you Matt. I am very grateful I stumbled across this website and for all of the emails I receive from you. I haven’t had the time to start a blog quite yet, being an RA in college is more time consuming than ever, but I am writing for our online newspaper here at SUNY Broome, so I am doing everything I can to keep writing. :] I think what you do is amazing, and hopefully one day, I too can help writers who are still trying to find themselves and their way with words. It’s amazing what you do. Thank you so much for the opportunities and the advice!

    Hi Matthew,
Thanks for this competition. I’m a freelance journalist and was longlisted for an award a month ago. I didn’t win, but I was pleased to see many other young Africans who share my passion for telling our stories with love, truth and beauty. Unfortunately my laptop was stolen and I have had to revert to writing longhand which is a wonderful exercise but I would very much like to rejoin the digital age in 2016! Good luck to everyone and happy holidays!

  122. Mallory says:    •   4 years

My family and I are going through a hard time right now, and to be honest a Macbook Air sounds cool, but I’d rather we keep our house…or just make it through the winter.

I was supposed to go to college in January but because my family and I have no money, and my school accepts absolutely no financial aid…I probably won’t get to go.

Matthew, I’ve been following your newsletter for a little while now, and from all the emails I get, you sir, are high on cheer and caring it would seem.
Your site and enthusiasm are the only things that have made stop and ponder the thought on if I should write a blog about my life and my disabilities Sadly, I’m going to lose my Internet soon, and maybe everything else lol. #internetstarved

It’s encouraging to read all the comments of others working towards their goal. Keep the comments coming guys, I’m here reading and need some happiness while I can get it!

  124. Emily says:    •   4 years

    Hi Matt,

This is an amazing giveaway! I do photography as well as writing, but my current computer is not compatible with any kind of photo editing software, and the word processor isn’t very good either. A Macbook Air would be insanely helpful in trying to get my blogging/digital media career off the ground. It’s been a pretty tough year, so it would be great to ring in the new year with this (or with the BYOB scholarship!). Crossing my fingers! #mba

Keep up the great work! I’m sure most of the people entering this competition are like me- big dreamers with limited means- and I know we are all thankful to you for giving us opportunities like this and helping us pursue our passions!

I have never used a Macbook, so not sure what to think of winning something like that. I don’t win things or have “Luck” in that arena so I hope it goes to someone who really needs it. I don’t gamble per say, but if I were to go into a casino I would just seek out the “Donation Bucket”, drop in my money and leave.

Sounds like someone is going to receive an awesome present, from Santa Claus Loomis!

I’ve got an old Toshiba laptop, I just cracked the case, and some of the keys don’t work. Would be nice to finish my book. Hint-“Sgt. Mac” and his new “MacAir,” would make a terrific pair!!!

In all seriousness. thanks for the wonderful contest. I’m sure anyone who wins this awesome prize, will be grateful this Christmas. 😉

    Hi Matthew,

Should I say I need a MacBook Air?

    No, Thanks.

I know what that means. It’s as impossible as catching the air in my hands. That’s something I don’t deserve.

Tell you what? I hate luck things because I’m not a lucky boy. I figured that out last year.

I’ll follow you not for this, but because I learn from you. That’s enough!

  144. Adrienne says:    •   4 years

    Hey Matthew,

What a great gift you’re giving away and how very kind of you my friend. I’ll be sure to spread the word around as much as possible.

I’ve never used a Mac and in all honesty I’m not eager to start now so I’ll leave this to those who really would love to get their hands on this.

Good luck to everyone and happy holidays!

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Adrienne,

I appreciate you sharing this with your audience.
Apple products can be addictive, so unless you want to get hooked, you should stick with what you use now. 🙂

Cheers to you and yours this holiday season!

I am writing all the way from Ghana. Funny how when I saw the post, I thought to myself, “It feels like it’s definitely going to be me this time.” As I write, I have imagined different scenarios where I see myself receiving the gift. Oh,the things I would do with a macbook air! I would carry it everywhere and write and write and write …May the lucky person(who I am really praying will be me) win!

    Hi Matthew,

Fantastic initiative you’ve been putting on for writers in the last few months. Your content is simple and user friendly and the construction of a blog post content is awesome.

I’m on the road for the next year, and I’m always getting angry looks from my wife for stealing her laptop away to do writing work. This would free me up and get me back in the good books 🙂 #mba

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Fred,

Appreciate the feedback, buddy. Love helping writers out there.
Great to meet you. I’m curious what you’re doing “on the road for the next year”?

Good luck! Cheers to a smiling wife in 2016. 🙂

No problem – I’m the type of guy that needs helping! Are there any other resources out there that you have for budding bloggers like myself?

I’m going through the Americas for the next 6 months or so. I’m not sure what to call it, extended honeymoon? Sabbatical? Perhaps we’re just not ready to grow up. 🙂

        Great to meet you too.

    Hi Matt,
How great of an offer is this! I really need to keep advancing and get more knowledge on my blogging techniques. This is definitely a luxury I would use but cannot afford for awhile. I’ve entered this new world of blogging and loving it more and more, actually I find it ‘addicting’ because I’ve discovered I want to write all the time, but don’t own a laptop that I could take wherever I go…yet!
Hope I win but even if I don’t, thank you so much for all the help you’ve given me so far(and I’m sure I’ll still need more) which you will graciously provide. And thank you for the opportunity to enter this great & generous contest.
Merry Christmas & Blessings to you and yours for the New Year!

The BYOB website has demystified the often complicated world of digital blogging by offering rare insights with simple, easy-to-follow steps. This is like no other. One of the vital lessons I have learnt from your Awesome Blog Sauce is the place of great content over systems as a pathway to sustainable blogging success. I’m convinced that with your wealth of expertise and experience any talented writer who’s fortunate to come under your tutelage will get transformed into a successful blogger in no distant time.
I am also amazed and inspired by your generosity of heart. I consider your blog scholarship aimed at launching a talented writer into the variegated world of digital blogging an act of philanthropy, an exceptional act of literary philanthropy indeed. While still on, you have gone on to launch yet another contest which will reward one lucky writer with a New MacBook Air. This is incredible to say the least!
I wish other successful writers can emulate your giant strides and duplicate your dexterous altruistic efforts – in discovering new writing talents and helping to nurture their capacities. Thank you Matthew Loomis for the wonderful opportunities you offer to talented writers across the globe. More grease to your enriched and tireless elbows. God bless you, my brother man.

I was so excited to hear about this, I hope I’m not too late to enter! I hate to post things like this, but this year has been especially difficult for my family financially with my parents having separated (especially my mother) and I, as a college student with no money myself, have felt so unable to help her. She currently goes to work reliant on this 12 year old laptop that only sometimes works and it highly frustrating. I think short of me being able to buy her an apartment with working appliances, she would be most grateful if I was able to give her this. The perfect Christmas gift. I hope this doesn’t sound like some sob story, but that’s what this would mean to me. However, even if I do not win I do hope that you do more contests like this! It’s very generous of you!

I would love to win this. I’ve heard Apple computers are the best. It could help me very much with my writing since they are fast, light and have great security. However, even if I don’t get it, I don’t mind it, because I know whoever gets it will use it for creative purposes. That makes me feel great. Creative writing can change the world 🙂 #mba

The MacBook certainly looks a lot lighter than my hp! This would make a great start to the year, wow Australia is full of opportunities. I look forward to hearing the results for the scholarship and competition.

    Hi, Matthew!
This is another brilliant and generous one from you. Keep up the good work. Obviously, it’s gonna be really tough for you to select a winner at the end of the day. It’s one of the problems when everyone wants a MacBook Air. Of course, I would appreciate if I could get one, too. Even though I’ve never owned a laptop, I’m not desperate to get this. I just wish whoever gets it at last a cool time with the baby. Nice one, Matthew.

Thanks for attempting to encourage me, Matt. I’m quite surprised that almost everyone here felt just as unlucky as I did. But it seems like an excuse, a cliche excuse, and a pessimistic way to play chance by not being resilient; everyone… or rather, almost everyone does it (which is a bad thing). Following this, I will enter this contest –because I’m Feeling Lucky–.
    Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope this encourages someone, at least.

    Hi Matt

I have already made the decision to start my own blog about 11 or 12 months ago. But, I didn’t really start yet. I’m taking this step slowly for personal reasons. But for this purpose, I’m learning HTML and CSS and intend to learn WordPress, to handle the geek stuff. I’m also practicing writing on social media platforms to get the best out of me.
I have been told many times that I’m a good writer, but good isn’t just enough for me. Great is. How about a great blogger with a great MacBook Air in his lap to shine bright?!! Perfect, isn’t it?
Please, Matt, give that MacBook 😀

Winning this shiny MacbookAir would definitely helped a lot to streamlined my workflow. This is one of the precious tool a designer, a developer , a blogger or even just a typical end user desire and take ownership of.

Hey, this Mac would help me immensely. I am going into college to become a teacher, and if you didn’t know teachers don’t make any money. I do however need a laptop to get me through school, and if I don’t win this then I have to resort to begging money out of people around me to get enough for a good laptop. Hope you see this!

This is an amazing opportunity and I would like to thank the owner of this blog for organizing it. My current setup is falling apart, and I’ve been holding the screen up with a piece of old metal from my mom’s sewing machine, and I’ve lot a lot of assignments from it chipping out twice. Not only would I be able to get on track with my schooling, but I would finally be able to rewrite my story draft that got deleted as well.

I really hope I get this chance. Good luck to everyone else as well!!!

  188. Raegan Jarvis says:    •   4 years

This is such a cool opportunity! Mr. Loomis, your generosity astounds me. I know you will pick an amazing, deserving winner. Hats off to them in advance!

My family is very low-income. I’ve never had a computer or Internet or anything technological at home that predates 1999 and still works. People see me and assume, because I’m a teenager, I’m in the death-grip of technology. When my teachers send me home with homework and projects with words like, “oh, you can just type this up this weekend” or “just google it” this means something different for me. This means “get up at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning and go to up to three different libraries to use their computers.” And if it’s a school night, it means “oh well, so much for your A in this class.” And now I’m going to college next year, that scary terrifying place where I really will need Khan Academy and Google Drive at my fingertips. Yet, I still cannot afford to have a laptop.

In middle school, I wanted to be an author. I wanted to be J.K. Rowling or Tamora Pierce and make it big as a fantasy novelist. Then I realized, I kind of suck at writing. World-building is quite possibly the hardest thing ever. I’m not very motivated either. I start writing something awesome, then I just stop. I’m a really busy person with no time to regurgitate my flavorful imagination all over a page. What could I do with time and a laptop? Amazing things. Blogs. Publications. Stories. Everything I’ve ever wanted to do.

So yeah, winning a laptop would be really cool. Of course, I hope that I do, but just read all these comments. So many people deserve this. Whoever succeeds, I will celebrate, because someone will be happy, and that’s enough for me. 🙂

    1. Matthew Loomis says:    •   4 years Author

      Hi Raegan,

Thanks for sharing your story. You sound like a determined teenager who knows where they are going. That’s fantastic! The winner is chosen randomly, like a raffle, only electronically. I can tell you this, do all 6 entries and that helps your odds. It’s like having six raffle tickets instead of one.

I really like your positive attitude. Keep in touch. I’d like to follow your writing career.

I think this contest is a great idea! I am going to be starting college in the next year, and a MacBook Air would certainly help me with managing everything that comes with college life. #mba
