Soccer Player Hope Solo & Banker Ben Bernanke Launch Blogs Within Days of Each Other
Good news for economics geeks and soccer fans!
In the past week, two prominent individuals from very different fields—one in banking and the other in sports– started blogging.
Former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and women’s professional soccer player Hope Solo, have both recently started their own blog.
Solo shared her first post on March 25th—called A Promising Start, where she excitedly welcomed her new blog visitors and said she hopes her blog will be a place where she can share her experiences about her life, career and her team’s quest to win the World Cup this summer.
Her website had previously served as a dry source of updates on her career, and now, with these personally driven posts filled with Hope’s blunt, transparent style, things are sure to get more interesting.
Her new blog is at hopesolo.com
And for those of you interested in reading about the banking industry, American fiscal policy and global economics, you’ll want to check out the new blog of Ben Bernanke.
Bernanke was Chairman of the Federal Reserve System between 2006 to 2014.
His blog is found on the Brookings Institute website, brookings.edu/blogs/ben-bernanke , Ben Bernanke’s blog is described as “Reflections on economics, finance, and policy.”
On March 30th, Bernanke posted not one but two blog posts—Inaugurating a New Blog and the other had the intriguing headline “Why are interest rates so low?”
Both new blogs offer these two frequent headline makers the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions in an unfiltered manner, while their blog readers get new peeks behind the scenes of both the banking industry and the women’s soccer field, along with new insights and rare (hopefully) rare engagement from two of the biggest players in each industry.
It will be interesting to see how often Ben Bernanke and Hope Solo post articles, and the level of engagement they share with their readers.
